Minimum salaries in Romania for the year 2019
Pursuant to the Government Decision approved at the Government meeting of 7 December, starting with the 1st of January 2019, the minimum wage guaranteed at national level without any increments or other additions, is proposed to be of 2,080 Lei/ month for a normal full working schedule of 167,333 average hours a month, representing 12.43 Lei/hour.
This amendment represents an increase of 9.47% on the national minimum wage compared with the level of December 2018 (1,900 Lei.)
As an exception, starting with the same date, for personnel hired on positions which require higher education diplomas, and with work seniority of at least 1 year in higher education, the minimum wage guaranteed at national level, without including any increments or other additions is increased from 2,080 Lei/ month to 2,350 Lei/month, for a normal full working schedule of 167,333 average hours a month, representing 14.044 Lei/hour. This change proposed by the Government represents an increase of 23.6 % of the national minimum wage compared with the level of December 2018 (1,900 Lei.)
The Government Decision was published in the Official Gazette no. 1045 from the 10th of December 2018.
