New Partner: Irina Petre, head of Energy and Natural Resources

Team Stratulat Albulescu just got stronger!

Stratulat Albulescu is delighted to announce that, with effect from 1 February, Irina Petre joined us as a partner and Head of our Energy and Projects practice. Irina comes to us with a resume reflecting an impressive depth of knowledge and experience in the fields of energy, projects and construction law (EPC).

From her earliest years in these fields, and in construction law, to her most recent work as a solo practitioner, Irina has developed a formidable reputation in her chosen practice areas.  

Serving as Counsel to the likes of E.ON Group companies, GAZPROM Group companies (eg. Gazprom Export, WIEE AG, WIEE Romania and WIROM) and also advising various clients regarding European railway infrastructure, Irina was also the Head of Business, Legal and Compliance at the Romanian holding company, E.ON Romania for five years. She also served as a General Director, Board Member and Head of Legal at E.ON REGENERABILE ROMANIA. As a result, Irina has spent the last 11 years as Counsel for the E. ON Group companies.

In 2014, Irina worked for Hidroelectrica as the Head of their Legal Department. Prior to that she was an EPC partner in the Bucharest office of CMS Cameron McKenna, where she advised clients such as Strabag, Linde Gas, Wintershall, Bouygues, AGIP, Ruhrgas, Erste Bank, Fresenius Kabi and Fresenius Medical Care. Most recently, as a sole practitioner EU expert, she has advised the Serbian Government on drafting and implementing the Comprehensive Railway Reform Project in Serbia.

She has a certified German law qualification from the University of Trier and the German Lawyers’ Association, has practiced law in various German law offices from 1996-1997 and was on secondment in the Vienna office of the prestigious law firm Schönherr Barfuss Torggler. She is certified as a German language translator by the Goethe Institute and has translated several legal and psychology textbooks, a skill that will significantly strengthen our German Desk. Along with her native German language, Irina also speaks English, French and Italian, as well as some basic Russian.
